Build tools for maximum impact

I dedicated my life to building better tools for bio. Here's why:
-basic animal studies cost >$100,000
-90% drugs fail in humans
-one drug takes 12 years and $2.3B to bring to market
-it takes 2-5 years to generate a new mouse model
-gene delivery can only hit individual organs at best
-only 50 new drugs are generated per year across the entire US
-est. ~20 years to complete a human longevity study
When you operate in this context, you only have a handful of shots on goal across your lifetime to generate new therapies, and what you can change is limited. Particularly if you want to target the cause of 9/10 deaths - aging.
However, if you build something that improves any of these numbers, thousands of other researchers using it will amplify your impact 100x.
If you want to have the biggest positive leverage with your time, build tools that target key bottlenecks.
